Managing Committee

The Managing Committee of the Bureau will be composed of the following persons:

Chairman of the Department of Economics, Dhaka University.
All Professors in Economics, Dhaka University.
The Director of the Bureau of Economic Research (Ex-officio).
A representative of the Planning Commission, Government of Bangladesh to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.
The Director-General, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, Dhaka (Ex-officio).
Two nominees of the Vice-Chancellor from amongest persons interested in research.

The Managing Committee will have the overall responsibility for the activities of the Bureau. It will approve the selection of projects, appointment Project Leaders and review the work of the Bureau at least once in three months and report to the Vice-Chancellor about the progress of work annually. It will appoint an Auditor. It will approve the budget and frame service and leave rules etc. for the employees. Until a meeting of the Managing Committee is called the Chairman shall be able to exercise the powers of the Managing Committee. The Chairman will convene meetings of the Managing Committee when necessary. The Managing Committee will frame resolution for the proper
management of the affairs of the Bureau and for the running of its day-to-day business (a) “At least one-third of the Members of the Managing Committee must be present at any meeting of the Managing Committee to form a quorum” (b) “In case the Chairman of the Managing Committee is absent in a Meeting convened by him, the Members of the M.C. present, will nominate one from amongest them to preside over the meeting”.
